What it is

To commemorate the 120th anniversary of passenger transportation starting at Ebisu Station, Harajuku Station, and Yoyogi Station, Sapporo Beer Co., Ltd.'s Ebisu brand will release a limited edition beer called "Rails of Time" on October 31st (Saturday) in limited quantities. Ebisu Beer was born in 1890, and its name became the name of a station, and eventually the name of a town. In 1901, "Ebisu Station" was created to send out Ebisu Beer, and in 1906, passenger service began, and this year marks the 120th anniversary of the start of passenger transportation. In this milestone year, by brewing a beer inspired by the history of the Ebisu town and the railway, we will cultivate a new connection between Ebisu and Ebisu. As part of the 120th anniversary of passenger transportation at Ebisu Station, Harajuku Station, and Yoyogi Station, the "EkiTag Digital Stamp Rally" (Note 1) will be implemented, and "YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO" will participate as a stamp location. You can enjoy the history and charm of Ebisu while touring the stations and the town. With over 135 years of history, Ebisu continues to pursue the potential of beer, and through satisfying the hearts of customers and inspiring the desire to move forward, we will continue to challenge ourselves to bring positive changes to society. (Beer follows the track.)" A beer created in collaboration with JR East Japan to commemorate the 120th anniversary of passenger transportation at Ebisu Station, Harajuku Station, and Yoyogi Station. Stations and railways connect people, not just places. Sometimes they connect people across time. Ebisu Beer traveled on rails from Ebisu Station, a freight station, and spread beer culture throughout Japan. It is an homage to the diagrams used in railway operations from the early Showa period. It uses leaf hops that are not heat-treated, similar to the Meiji era when stations were built (Note 2). It is a drink that connects time and culture. Note 2: Partial use. 【Comment from Chief Experience Brewer Ryohta Aritomo】 "Rails of Time" is a product created in collaboration with JR East Japan to commemorate the 120th anniversary of passenger transportation at Ebisu Station, Harajuku Station, and Yoyogi Station. The theme is that stations and railways not only connect places, but also people, and sometimes culture and time. The diagram used in railway operations is also used to make good beer. This diagram is an homage to the early Showa period, and leaf hops that are not heat-treated, similar to the Meiji era when stations were built (Note 2), are used to deliver a drink that connects time and culture. <Profile> Joined Sapporo Beer in 2012. In April 2024, he was responsible for brewing at "YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO". ■ About "Ebisu Beer" 1890, a premium beer was born in Tokyo. Since its birth, it has been committed to the authenticity of taste, and continues to refine the unique taste of Ebisu Beer. Just four years after the launch of Ebisu Beer, it launched a black beer and opened Japan's first beer hall, and has made many challenges. In the next 100 years, we will continue to use the knowledge and technology that have been passed down, and expand and enhance the value of beer. Since 2023, we have been incorporating the innovative sensibility of brewer Ryohta Aritomo and modern brewing techniques, and creating new beers that are not limited to traditional concepts of beer.
