What it is

A special exhibition titled 'Koguma-chan and Shirokuma-chan' (tentative title) will be held at PLAY! MUSEUM in Tachikawa, Tokyo, from December 23, 2026, to February 23, 2027. The exhibition features 100 pancakes, a mud pool, and a shopping game, transforming the entire museum into a play area for Koguma-chan and Shirokuma-chan. A large picture book where visitors can meet life-sized Koguma-chan and Shirokuma-chan, and cute games that jump out of picture books, will be on display.

The exhibition will also introduce the secrets behind the creation of the 'Koguma-chan Picture Book' series. Admission fees are as follows: general admission is 1,800 yen, university students 1,200 yen, high school students 1,000 yen, middle and elementary school students 600 yen, and free for preschoolers. All prices include tax. Various discounts are available, but they cannot be combined. Please check the official website for the latest information before purchasing tickets or visiting. The exhibition is intended for small children, so safety management rules are in place. Each guardian may bring up to two children, and groups of three or more children per guardian will not be allowed. Children cannot enter alone and must be accompanied by a guardian (who is also charged). Children are defined as elementary school students and preschoolers (0 years old and above), and guardians must be 18 years or older. When visiting with a group, it is recommended to check the balance of adults and children in advance. The exhibition will run from December 23, 2026, to February 23, 2027. Holidays may be set during this period, but specific dates are not yet determined. The exhibition will be available from winter vacation through early spring, so it is recommended to check the official website for holiday dates before planning a visit. Special features of the exhibition include the three keywords: '100 pancakes,' 'mud pool,' and 'shopping game.' These are all elements from the picture books that are transformed into interactive games in the exhibition hall. The exhibition is designed to allow visitors to enter the world of the picture book by reading and by moving their bodies. The exhibition will also introduce the secrets of the creation of the 'Koguma-chan Picture Book' series. This part of the exhibition is especially interesting for adults who read the series in their childhood. Additional information about the exhibition can be found on the official website. The exhibition is also connected to a collaboration with Esther Bunny, a popular Korean character. A special café featuring Esther Bunny will be open in Ikebukuro and Umeda from August 28, 2026, to October 8, 2026.
