What it is
Jack Wah Nintamron (born 1977 in Lopburi, Thailand) works with a variety of video formats, from short and feature-length films to documentaries and multi-channel video installations. His works explore the invisible forces that govern human experience by weaving Buddhist philosophy and ecological concepts into the imagery of science fiction and surrealism. It is subtly suggested that people's lives and experiences are determined by natural environments and social conditions. For Nintamron, themes such as pollution, decay, and regeneration are important concerns.

These often go beyond the subject of the work, and are literally embodied in the physical material of the celluloid film itself. By using special effects in the style of the 1960s, created with organic materials, and by deliberately using expired film, he creates a degradation texture in the projected image, thus distancing the viewer from the fictional immersion in the film space. In this way, he emphasizes the unique audio-visual experience of the film medium and conveys his worldview. This exhibition features three works, centered on 'Rhizome (Root Stem)' (2022), which depicts a man drifting on a raft in a world flooded by water. 'Rhizome (Root Stem)' is set in a world where adaptation to microbial growth and spread has become essential for survival, suggesting that the invasion of foreign substances may be a condition for creating the environment, not only for humans but also for non-human organisms. Along with 'The Mediator of Decay' (2025) and 'Interruption' (2013), you can see how Nintamron expands the material and philosophical possibilities of the film medium.
