This exhibition is based on the book 'Zen and Ghibli,' which compiles a dialogue between Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki and a Zen monk. Studio Ghibli works convey a sense of ambiguity that does not separate good from evil, a sense of patience, and a way of 'accepting without knowing.' This resonates deeply with the Zen philosophy of 'not dividing,' 'not making assumptions,' and 'seeing things as they are.' Hayao Miyazaki's latest film, 'How Will You Live?' (2023), which recorded the highest number of overseas visitors in Studio Ghibli's history, left a quiet aftertaste in the hearts of many viewers with its world view that does not provide clear answers.
